It’s Tuesday and today on MYM360, I have a question. Well, it’s not really my question. It’s a question that I borrowed from Brian Moran’s book the 12 Week Year. He opens the book by asking, “How is that some people accomplish so much when the vast majority of people never accomplish what they are capable of? If you could fully tap into your potential, what might be different for you? How would your life change if each and every day you performed up to your full potential? What would be different in six months, three years and five years down the road if each day you were at your best?”
That’s a tall order but it is doable if you connect your intentions with your actions. In his book he suggests that instead of thinking of the year as being composed of 12 months, begin to think of it as consisting of 12 weeks. Doing that makes everything more important because you have less time to accomplish it. You see when we set resolutions in January, we often let them fritter away because we have so much time to accomplish them. But if we only have 12 weeks, three months or 90 days’ time is compressed and it is easier to stay on track. So if this holds true we could actually accomplish four years’ worth of stuff in one year.
Stop for a moment and just imagine, imagine that you just applied this concept to element of your life – managing your career, managing your money, building family relationships. Our lives are very much like an algebraic equation, changing one part affects the others. So, now here’s my question or challenge for you. What is one thing that you could do today that could have an impact on your life before the end of the year which just so happens to be about 12 weeks. I would really love to know what you do and how it works for you.
And that’s it for today. Got a burning question? Send it to me at email@example.com and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @PatStallworth
Thanks for listening and as always remember that minding your money really is the path to a richer life!
